Job Purpose
To attend to the physical and social needs of children with special educational needs, as directed, to help create a supportive and positive atmosphere where children can work towards maximum independence and integration with their peers.

Skills and Experience
- Experience in a caring or community based environment working with children, young people or adults
- Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy
- Ability to observe professional confidentiality and implement sound judgement
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Ability to work under guidance and direction of teaching staff
- Ability to assist young people in activities such as toileting, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc
- Ability and commitment to undertake training /development as required
- Enjoy working with children
- Flexible and adaptable approach
- Reliable
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good interpersonal skills and organisational skills
- Able to assist in and carry out certain lifting tasks associated with the care of dependant young people
