Education Consultant - SEN Review

Contract: fixed term 2 years

Location: County Hall Northallerton

North Yorkshire has high aspirations and expectations for children and young people with special educational needs. That's why we are looking for a senior, experienced SEN professional to lead a review of SEN provision.

Significant investments have been made over recent years in providing more localised SEN provision to support mainstream schools, and it is now the time to revisit the role and location of more specialist provision. Demographic, funding and practice changes, combined with new SEN duties and local developments in the way in which school improvement is provided, means that this work has high priority.

Over a two year period the SEN consultant, working with an experienced multi-disciplinary team, will develop options and proposals for change, plan and manage engagement and consultation, and lead on aspects of early implementation.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work with highly regarded special schools and other agencies in a local authority with a very good reputation for its SEN work and provision. We require someone who shares our passion and who can demonstrate breadth and depth of experience to lead this major review.
