Shaping Aberdeen

Aberdeen City Council's vision is one of progress. Priorities include a commitment to and engagement with our 8,500 strong workforce; a dedication to place our 220,000 customers at the heart of everything we do and a focus on continually improving all the services we deliver.

This is an exciting time to be joining a dynamic and forward looking Education and Children's Service which is being redesigned to meet the changing needs of its children and young people. This is an opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the service and to make a real difference to the lives of young people and the staff working with them.

Our priorities are to accelerate progress to improve learning outcomes for specific underperforming groups - in particular Children and Young People with additional support needs (ASN), Literacy and Adults; to improve health and wellbeing outcomes - through more people being more active more often and improved mental health and resilience; to improve and increase positive and sustained destinations for 14-25 year olds; and to extend quality cultural opportunities.

We have a number of roles which we are looking to fill to help us on our journey.

You will promote and support the Authority and Schools across the City in the development of learning and teaching with specific regards to literacy as well as contribute to the development and delivery of the wider city strategic plan including actively supporting the city literacy strategy group.

This post requires candidates to be eligible for registration with General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).

Closing Date: 29 September 2014
