Job overview

Required for one year from January 2015 (or sooner if available) to cover a period of maternity leave.

Corley Centre is a secondary special school for children with complex social and communication difficulties. A significant number of students have an autism diagnosis. Student attainment covers the full National Curriculum and GCSE range.

We are seeking a highly driven and creative specialist English teacher to teach English at Key Stages 3 and 4, including at GCSE level.

The post holder will work collaboratively with a small team of teaching and support staff to further develop a dynamic department where students extend their abilities as a result of high quality staff input.

The post will also involve mentoring a small group of students from Years 8 to 11, overseeing their academic and personal development, and liaising with parents and senior leadership in relation to their well-being. This will involve the planning and delivery of two weekly Mentor Lessons, following the school's Mentoring Programme and Weekly Theme.

Applications are welcome from secondary, primary, mainstream and special school teachers, including NQTs.

Informal visits to the school are encouraged and welcomed.
