Job overview

A full-time Teacher of English is required from 1 January 2015, at John Cabot Academy. The post is a permanent contract to teach Key Stages 3 and 4 Language and Literature with the opportunity to teach Language or Literature at Key Stage 5.

The Faculty is one in which discussion and development is encouraged; support and a strong team spirit is fostered. Full and appropriate support will be given to the successful candidate.

We teach in an accessible suite of classrooms close to the communal Faculty office and school library.

This is the fundamental ethos and culture of John Cabot Academy.  Students have many opportunities to influence not only which programmes of study they embark upon but also how the learning and teaching is designed.  We aspire towards the full realisation of students learning and being assessed at the time that is right for them.  The first stage of this process is the introduction of vertical tutoring.  With students being arranged into 4 tutoring communities we are discovering the benefits of grouping students with others outside of their age group.  The next stage in this process is to work towards students learning alongside others at their same stage rather than necessarily their same age.
