Essa Foundation Academies Trust (EFAT) is a Multi Academy Trust with head office based in Bolton, Lancashire.

EFAT is seeking an experienced senior educationalist to advise the EFAT Multi Academy Trust Board of Directors on developing policies and strategies to help achieve our vision of educational excellence for our primary and secondary schools. A strategic leader, who has worked in a LA/Ofsted/HMI setting with a proven track record of improving educational standards, your commitment and outcome-focused approach, will have a huge impact on the life chances of our children.

EFAT currently comprises two school which include its flagship secondary school Essa Academy and Essa Primary the Free School opening in September 2014. EFAT over the next several years has the ambition to sponsor both primary and secondary schools, together with inviting schools to join our network who have chosen to become academies.

The innovative teaching and learning delivered at Essa Academy has won both national and international recognition, transforming results from 25% at the predecessor school Heywood to 50% at the Academy, including 5A* to C, including English and Maths. Essa Academy has been judged Good at our Ofsted inspection in 2014.

We are determined to build on this success for our current and future schools, and our firm belief is that by working closely with all our stakeholders we can give our children the best chance to succeed.

The Role:

  • To attend EFAT Board meetings and support the Chair of the Trust - 4 meetings per year
  • To attend EFAT Education and Achievement Committee meetings to support the Chair of the committee - 6 meetings per year
  • On behalf of EFAT challenge the principals and SLT on educational matters
  • To prepare for those meetings by having a full understanding of the school's performance in exams, raiseonline and by looking at the reports of the Academy adviser/SIP.
  • Ensure School Improvement Partners support and challenge the principals with sufficient rigour regarding leadership, performance, outcomes, assessment on the new system regarding the delivery of the new primary and secondary curriculum, the delivery of the new SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding.
  • To understand the school SEF school improvement plan and whether it is accurate and meets challenging targets for improvement.
  • To prepare and present reports to the Trust.
  • On behalf of the Chair of the Trust/Chair of Education Committee to visit the schools, meet the principals, SIP and discuss findings and secure outcome focused solutions.
  • Time Commitment
  • Minimum 10 meetings PA, including preparation time (EFAT Board and Education and Achievement Committee)
  • Minimum of 1 day visit PA to Essa Primary and Essa Academy
  • Minimum of 12 days work PA

Remuneration £6000 PA, plus travelling and related expenses will be reimbursed

Location

The work will be based in Bolton with Essa Primary www.essaprimary.org and Essa Academy www.essaacademy.org and all Board meetings will take place in Bolton.
