Job overview

Executive Head/Head of Learning Provision, Special Educational Needs, Scotland

Established in 2004, Common Thread Group is a growing provider of education and care for some of the most vulnerable and hardest to place young people in Scotland. Their specialist professionals provide high standards of education and care for up to 28 children and young people with challenging and complex learning difficulties, in high quality residential care settings and in an outstanding school.

This new role represents an excellent opportunity for someone to use their deep understanding of and strong commitment to educating young people with emotional and behavioural needs and a rare chance to be creative in developing a truly bespoke and outstanding provision.

We are interested in hearing from candidates with experience of successful senior leadership, gained in special education or care settings, particularly individuals with:

  • Substantial experience as a practitioner and headteacher, either in independent or maintained special education
  • A strong background in working with children and young people in crisis or those with complex needs
  • Proven skills in raising and sustaining high standards of education provision
  • Senior, strategic experience of managing education programmes or curriculum development
  • An understanding of residential care settings will be helpful
  • Commercial acumen
