The Ascent Academies' Trust comprises four secondary special academies that are all currently judged to be good or outstanding in Ofsted terms and is a sponsor academy. This is an expanding Trust and as a result we wish to further develop our leadership capacity. New additional academies will increase the geographical area of the Trust with all academies still based in the North East of England. The Executive Team shares a strong, strategic view of all academies in the Trust and works in partnership to share best practice and improve outcomes for all students within the Trust. This is a collaborative model of leadership that is derived from a mutually understood vision for students with SEN.

The Ascent Academies' Trust is looking for an additional Head Teacher to join their Executive Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have considerable and successful experience of headship in SEN settings.
  • Have a history of rapid and successful school improvement.
  • Have a thorough understanding and experience in meeting arrange of special needs
  • Have a commitment to team work and partnership.
  • Be a professional with vision, creativity and a can do attitude.
  • Be able to motivate and influence others towards clear goals.
  • Be well organised and thorough in their work, capable of meeting deadlines and ensuring the team meet deadlines.
  • Be passionate about working within a Multi-Academy Trust and with wider partnerships.

This is a challenging role that will expect the post holder to:

  • Be exceptional at providing challenge and support to colleagues within the Executive Team in order to improve the quality of provision and outcomes.
  • Be accountable for significant, delegated aspects of Trust-wide responsibility.
  • Have a strong sense of next step improvements withinorganisations and excellent communication skills.
  • Enhance opportunities through partnerships between academies, students, staff, the local community, colleges, Trust partners, other schools and voluntary organisations, optimising the benefits of being a Multi-Academy Trust.
  • Coach, mentor and train staff across the Trust where necessary.
  • Take on the role of statutory Head Teacher where required.
