Job overview

We are looking to appoint a full or part-qualified accountant to the new post of Finance Manager at Cirencester Deer Park School, to oversee all finance and payroll work for the school.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration the new post will primarily be responsible for production of financial and management accounts for the school and subsidiary companies and oversee processing of all financial documents and the payroll for our 150 employees, managing two existing Finance Officers.

As a high performing comprehensive school in the South Cotswolds, Cirencester Deer Park is committed to providing outstanding education and developing our staff. We were judged Good in our last Ofsted inspection in June 2013 and converted to an Academy in April 2011.

The successful applicant will work for 37 hours per week, working school term time plus two weeks to be worked during the school holidays (mainly in the summer). The exact hours are subject to negotiation between the school and the successful applicant.

The salary for this post is Grade J, point range 34-42, with a base salary between £28,923 and £35,784 per annum pro rata depending on age and experience. This will give an actual salary of between £25,808 and £31,930 per annum which will be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.

Cirencester Deer Park School is a secondary mainstream school for girls and boys aged between 11 and 16. It is a non-denominational establishment and a state-funded community school. At present, there are around 965 students enrolled at the school. It is situated in Gloucestershire and first opened in 1966.

Teachers have good subject knowledge, have high expectations of students, and develop good working relationships in the classrooms. Their positive attitudes in lessons help them learn well, and their polite and courteous behaviour around the school contributes to a very positive atmosphere.
