About Hardwick Primary School

Hardwick Primary School is a large, vibrant, multicultural inner city school for 570 pupils aged 3-11. Following the amalgamation of the separate Infant and Junior schools on the same site in 2004, we opened in a new purpose-built PFI building in September 2006. We now have state-of-the-art facilities of which we are very proud. There are first-class facilities both indoors and out, and we are still developing outdoor learning.

We have gained a range of awards, including Investors in People, Basic Skills Quality Mark, an Activemark and we have gained the Healthy Schools Award.

Our staff are a lively, hard-working, caring and very supportive group of people, who are committed to providing a positive learning environment. We work in 3 phase teams (EY, middle years and upper years) and make the most of the skills and talents of staff. We have a Deputy Head and three Assistant Heads.

Our mission statement is ‘Develop, achieve, progress’, and this applies to all adults as well as to children. Adults in our school are learners too and we believe in the value of professional development.

95% of our children are from minority ethnic groups, and have English as an additional language. A majority originate from Pakistani backgrounds, and recently we have admitted pupils from Eastern Europe. At present 31 languages are represented in the school. We are very proud of our work on inclusion, and our school is a harmonious community. Our children behave well, are enthusiastic and friendly, and are keen to learn.

Our philosophy and ethos place great importance on the relationships that exist between home and school. We consider parental support and involvement in our pupils’ education to be essential to their child’s success in school. We consider ourselves an integral part of the community we serve, and have excellent extended services and provision before and after school.

We are very well-resourced for learning, and we are now keen to bring new skills into the team.

We welcome visits and would be delighted to show you round.
