Values and Vision

Highfield Middle School encourages children to participate in extra-curricular activities. This includes school trips to places like Zambia. This helps them gain a good understanding of the problems that face the world. The aim is for all children to develop morally, socially and culturally. Not just by having academic development. Pupils are taught to work hard and be responsible. They should develop self-confidence and self-control, by becoming active and important members of the local community. The curriculum is stimulating and balanced, making learning a fun experience for all the students. Pupils are also taught in a safe and happy environment. They should be tolerant of those from different backgrounds and those with different faiths.

Ofsted report

“Achievement is good. Pupils make outstanding progress in English and good progress in mathematics and other subjects. Pupils speak well, read fluently and write to a high standard for their age. They use these skills well in all of their lessons. The quality of teaching is good with some that is outstanding. Teachers plan interesting lessons with a range of activities that involve pupils well. They explain new work clearly and ask questions that help pupils to develop good levels of understanding. Teachers mark pupils’ work regularly so that they know how to improve. Literacy is taught consistently well in all subjects.”
