In anticipation of the retirement at the end of the academic year of Mrs Sally Hobbs after 22 years of outstanding and dedicated service to the school, the governors seek a head who will combine excellence in teaching with the ability to translate vision into practice. He or she should be able to enthuse children, staff and parents.

Orchard House is a leading co-educational IAPS school in West London. It combines an extraordinarily happy atmosphere with first class academic results and enjoys an enviable reputation, as evidenced by all its ISI inspections over the years. The school will have approximately 290 children on roll next September. As a member of House Schools Group, it has as sister preparatory schools Bassett House in Kensington and Prospect House in Putney.

With strong management and administrative skills and relevant experience, the successful candidate is likely to be a head or deputy head currently or at least to be managing with SLT responsibility a significant team in a large school. He or she will have a record for achieving continuous academic and pastoral progress through quiet confidence and effective leadership. A knowledge of the entrance requirements in general of the secondary sector is essential; a more detailed understanding of the independent London senior schools' requirements will be an advantage.
