Job overview

Permanent, Full Time

Excellent Salary to match experience (It is intended that salary will not be an issue for the right candidate)

Location: Cheadle (Stockport, Greater Manchester) and Marple (Stockport/North Derbyshire)

We are seeking a talented, energetic and passionate leader to expand, lead and further strengthen the forward-looking Science provision in our OfSTED 'Good' College.

Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College is now two distinct colleges - Marple Sixth Form College and The Cheadle College, brought together with one senior leadership team and one Governing body, and together providing great opportunities that 'meet the needs of the local population' (OFSTED 2013).

You will help develop the colleges as a centre of excellence for the sciences and technology, developing and enhancing our reputation through innovative curriculum development, cutting-edge teaching and learning methods, using data effectively and encouraging a collegiate and stimulating environment for students and staff alike.

This is an exciting opportunity for a bright and committed individual to lead an excellent and successful team in one of the UK's most progressive and forward looking colleges. We are fast building a reputation for offering excellent career development opportunities and we have a new and inspirational leadership team, helping to transform the prospects of our students.

The post would be ideal for anyone with successful A Level experience (in Sixth-Form, GFE, or 11-18 schools with substantial experience of KS5), ambition and drive, and who sees a faculty leadership position as the next step in their career. The college currently offers a broad science provision including Biology AS/A2 (AQA); Chemistry AS/A2 (AQA); Physics AS/A2 (AQA) and some slightly wider provision such as Applied Science (BTEC Level 3 QCF).

The college is easy to get to - the Cheadle site is close to Manchester Airport, linked closely to the main motorway network, and is easily commutable from Greater Manchester as well as most of the North West, North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. Our Marple site is located in the Peak District about 8-9 miles from Cheadle. Applicants would need to anticipate some cross-site travel (for which the college would naturally meet your expenses).

We offer:

  • Full support from a new, dedicated, inspirational and approachable leadership team;
  • A collegiate approach to best practice, with a consultative yet inclusive style;
  • The opportunity to join a dynamic and improving OfSTED Grade 2 College with a unique and forward-looking structure;
  • Dedicated career development and advice and a platform towards further career success.

Are you ambitious and exceptional, with a successful career in a college or school (maintained, academy or independent sector) with a substantial sixth-form?

If you believe that you can make the difference for the students of Manchester, Stockport, North Derbyshire and beyond, we'd love to hear from you.

Closing date: Monday 27th October (12 noon)
Interviews to be held as soon as possible thereafter.

The position can be available as soon as possible to suit candidates' notice periods
