Transforming lives through learning...

It's exciting times at Wakefield College.  Against the background of a recent good Ofsted outcome, solid recruitment over the last two years, investment in student support structures and in the physical environment in which learning takes place, the Principalship Team has a strong vision to see the College achieve 'Outstanding' across the range of its core curriculum within the next two years and for this to be recognised at the next inspection.

Such a goal requires further investment in management capacity and so we are looking to strengthen the college senior leadership and middle management tiers

As the Head of Curriculum for ICT, Media and Business, you'll be a key member of the senior leadership team, operating in a role that will include strategic responsibilities.

Specifically this will involve:

  • Actively leading a high performance culture and ethos, aimed at delivering high levels of engagement and an environment of continuous improvement amongst all colleagues
  • Developing a high quality curriculum offering across all levels of programmes and courses, enabling meaningful progression routes for learners and the provision of an excellent student experience
  • Positively supporting and ensuring the implementation of the College's strategic plan, key strategies and initiatives as directed by the Principalship
  • Already operating at a managerial level, you should have a proven track record of leading teams in the successful achievement of challenging targets and be able to demonstrate:
  • Significant experience of strategy development and  leading people through change, whilst at the same time ensuring the quality of delivery is maintained and improved
  • The ability to establish a high expectation and performance culture amongst staff and students alike, leading to excellent standards of teaching and learning and positive learner outcomes
  • A knowledge of examination requirements and broad knowledge of the curriculum areas covered in ICT, Media and Business, coupled with a degree or above qualifications, Teaching and recognised Level 5 leadership and management qualification (or willingness to achieve in 2 years)
  • A strategic outlook and the necessary know-how to accurately assess the quality of teaching and learning through direct observation and other measures

Join us and we promise the support of a great team, as well as the satisfaction of contributing to learner achievements. These are just a few of our benefits you may be entitled to:

  • Child Care Vouchers

The Wakefield District
Wakefield offers a rare combination of heritage, countryside, entertainment, culture, shopping and sport. Whatever your interests, we hope you will want to explore the District and its many amenities.

For art lovers, there is the City Art Gallery and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of the world’s leading open-air galleries where a changing programme of international sculpture can be seen in the setting of a magnificent country park. Recent improvements to the Park include an underground gallery, visitor centre, shop and large restaurant - all the ingredients for a great day out. In 2011 the Hepworth gallery opened on Wakefield’s regenerated waterfront and presents a major collection of twentieth-century British artworks, with a collection of sculptures by locally-born Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore as its centrepiece.
