Job overview

Head of Early Intervention and (SEND) Support Services

Cheadle

Seashell Trust is dedicated to providing a creative, happy and secure environment for children and adults with complex and severe learning disabilities which include little or no language abilities.

We are home to the Royal School Manchester, a non-maintained special school and the Royal College Manchester, an independent specialist further education college. We also offer residential and short break facilities to our students and to children and young people who do not have an education placement here at Seashell Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Early Intervention and (SEND) Support Services to join our team, reporting into the Director of Education.

Initially the task will be to plan an innovative and comprehensive strategy to move the Trust forward, in partnership with other Voluntary and Charity Sectors, to develop and extend its original vision for Outreach Services.

The role will include developing key relationships with Local Authorities, Educational and social care teams and other service providers in relation to supporting a range of families and children in an array of educational and care settings, and to develop, plan and implement a comprehensive strategy to deliver and manage external SEND services on behalf of Local Authorities, Voluntary and Charity Sector and Seashell Trust.

The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level with experience of working within a similar role at management level. With proven experience of promoting, leading and delivering strategies to secure value for money, continuous service improvement and the development of quality customer focused advisory and support services, the candidate will be comfortable delivering to deadlines and within budget. Experience as a senior manager within the SEND and Inclusion field in a school and / or local authority setting is key.

It would be desirable for candidates to be able to demonstrate substantial and successful experience of service leadership and management of a range of SEN and Disability services on behalf of Local Authorities or other similar statutory agencies.

Closing date for applications is 6th August 2014
