An inspirational and innovative educator is sought as Head of School to lead Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 provision at Dulwich College Beijing.  This is an exceptional opportunity to lead an expanding school with a dedicated team of teachers and to work within the exciting and supportive environment of the DCI Group and its family of schools in Asia.

The Early Years is currently based in two campuses with dedicated facilities.  The new Head of Early Years (Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1) will lead the relocation of the Early Years department from the Riviera and Legend campuses into a new custom-build, state of- the-art Early Years facility.  This presents a unique opportunity to create new school context in a wonderful, architecturally innovative space. We are seeking to make this facility the best Early Years and Key Stage 1KS1 provision in Asia.

Situated in the capital of the world's fastest-growing economy, Dulwich College Beijing, is one of the leading co-educational, international schools with 1450 students aged 12 months to 18 years.  Dulwich College Beijing has built a reputation for excellence in academic results, sport and the arts and was named British International School of the Year 2011 in the Independent School Awards.  In 2014 ISI graded the College 'excellent' in all the major educational categories. "Excellent [Early Years] provision is made to meet the needs of the range of children who attend, fulfilling the school's aim to ensure that children come first." (ISI DCB Report 2014, pg 22)

The College comprises three schools, each with its own Head: Early Years, Junior School and Senior School.  The College offers the EYFS, English National Curriculum, International GCSEs and the IB Diploma. The School's philosophy draws from 400 years of experience in education from the founding and partner school Dulwich College in London.

The Role

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Head of Early Years (Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1) to support the Headmaster of Dulwich College Beijing and further develop and lead the already thriving Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 programme, continuing to develop an active learning environment where a blended approach of child-centred learning is encouraged.  The successful candidate will be passionate about learning and teaching and have the drive and commitment to ensure our children achieve the best learning outcomes possible in a creative and stimulating environment.  He or she will have a proven commitment to developing their teaching team and working in partnership with parents.  They will have high expectations of themselves and the children they work with and a professional working ethos and educational philosophy to drive forward the College's education mission.  This needs to be combined with exceptional communication, leadership skills and change management skills.

To be considered for this appointment you must hold at least a tertiary degree, recognised teaching qualifications and leadership experience within a vibrant and diverse school. Previous exposure to working in a full primary (to 11) or prep school (to 11 or 13) context would be an advantage, as would headship experience.

Closing date: 16 October 2014

Preliminary interviews will be held at Dulwich College London on 30 OR 31 October 2014, with final interviews to take place in Beijing on 17 AND 18 November 2014.
