About Kingsbury School - A specialist Science and Mathematics College

Kingsbury is an 11-16 (soon to be 11-18) mixed comprehensive school, situated on the edge of Tamworth close to J9 and J10 of the M42, serving local housing estates and a large surrounding area. There are over 600 students on roll and this number is set to rise in successive years.  There are many reasons why parents choose to travel up to 15 miles to access Kingsbury:

  • Results are in the top 5 for schools in Tamworth and North Warwickshire
  • As a small school we know our pupils by name
  • We have been awarded the following kite marks:
    o Dyslexia friendly school
    o Geography award
o Specialist school status in Science and Mathematics

  • The quality of pastoral care and guidance has for the last two OFSTED’s been “Outstanding”
  • The recent development of Post 16 study on site

We pride ourselves on putting learning at the centre of everything we do and for that reason, over the last 4 years, our A*-C rate has continued to rise to its current level of 67% A*-C in English and Mathematics 2013.

Our Ofsted inspection in November 2013 determined that we were a satisfactory school; however, it also recognised that leadership was good and  we had successfully identified the areas for development and were taking steps to drive results up further. We fully expect to receive a good or outstanding at our next inspection.

Pupils are increasingly at the centre of our school, with school council, prefects and a young leadership team central to the decision making.

Kingsbury School is an exciting place to be in at the moment.  In September 2008 we opened brand new English, ICT and Music blocks, helping create a fantastic learning environment.  Autumn 2010, we opened up our state of the art, learning zone; which is helping learning come alive and provide a place where students and staff can utilise new technologies to the full. In 2011 we had the development of a new lift, canteen and reception facilities.  In 2012 we added a Sportshall and in 2013/14 we build to accommodate our new Post 16 centre - first teaching in September 2014.

Kingsbury is an exciting place as learning and teaching are central to the schools improvement plans and new initiatives are being pursued in order to drive the standards up and appropriately support the needs of our young people.

As a school we believe we have a positive learning environment, where students and staff are supported and can thrive.

We are delighted by our progress and excited, by the potential and capacity in school, to drive up attainment even further and enable young learners to become successful, confident and responsible citizens.

We would encourage you to test out our claims, by touring the school prior to an application or interview and judge for yourself.  We are confident that you will not be disappointed.
