Job overview

Are you passionate about primary school learning? Do you aim to develop a lasting strength of independent enquiry in children; encouraging a lifelong love for learning? Are you ready to take on an interesting, satisfying primary leadership role where you will have the freedom to work creatively whilst being supported by a hard working diverse team? This role may be the opportunity you have been waiting for. Hunsley Trust is preparing to open Hunsley Primary which will be a free school, opening in September 2015 and this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in growing and developing a school from its inception. Hunsley Trust already has an outstanding secondary school and sixth form and this is an opportunity for you to work independently as an educational leader whilst also being part of a successful diverse team. This is an opportunity to draw upon and benefit from the leadership and curriculum expertise within the Hunsley Trust. With your primary expertise you will join a team that can support you in all aspects of running a school, from recruiting and developing staff to managing budgets, establishing appropriate governance arrangements and ensuring the site and facilities provide a safe learning environment for pupils.

This is a wonderful opportunity to lead the development of Hunsley Primary which will provide opportunities for all its children to make outstanding progress; in particular, it will stimulate and challenge pupils as mathematicians and scientists, underpinning our vision to develop a lasting strength of independent enquiry in our pupils. This is a once in a lifetime chance to work collaboratively to develop a unique, exciting curriculum in a new school; developing plans for the future and recruiting a team of staff that will work with you to ensure pupils have an outstanding learning experience. Hunsley Trust has developed excellent relationships with a wide number of local authority maintained primary schools and academies in the local area and beyond and we envisage our new school to be very much part of these collaborative partnerships.

The Hunsley Primary is surrounded by beautiful countryside yet is near to the 2017 UK City of Culture. With affordable housing and good motorway and public transport connections, it is an ideal location and relocation assistance may be available.

If you are hardworking, committed, and loyal and are passionate about enabling children to achieve greatness, we would love to hear from you. In return we can offer job satisfaction, a wealth of opportunity for professional and personal development and a strong team ethos that encourages creativity, enabling you to try new things and enhance your skills and expertise for the better. We want everyone in the Trust to be successful and our performance management systems are focused on professional development, high levels of achievement and career growth.

About Us

Hunsley Primary offers its pupils an excellent, child-centred education that helps them to develop as confident, lively thinkers with enquiring minds. Our ambitious curriculum is taught in distinct subject areas, with the children gaining strengths in the core subjects of English, maths and science, and equally developing knowledge and skills as, for example, historians, geographers and artists.

Hunsley Primary opened in Melton, near Brough, in September 2015 as East Yorkshire’s first free school. In 2018, we moved into our brand new, bespoke building on Bluebird Way, part of the Brough South development - the next step on an exciting journey. Along with South Hunsley, The Snaith School, Driffield School, Malet Lambert and North Cave CE Primary school, Hunsley Primary is led by The Education Alliance Multi Academy Trust, benefiting also from being part of the Wolds Teaching School Alliance and Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training, putting evidence-based practice, ethical leadership and professional development at the heart of our staff experience.

An inclusive, nurturing school with high aspiration for all its children, Hunsley Primary makes the most of its unique links with South Hunsley and its trust partners, including the Associate Research School provision, to offer an exciting experience for pupils on their learning journey from of 4 to 19 years old. Our team ethos is driven by collaboration, support and development for all and we thrive on professional dialogue about what works best to enable all our children to reach their goals.

Hunsley Primary has rapidly gained a reputation for high aspiration and excellence. Already oversubscribed, the school has been recognised for its commitment to high standards and our passion for learning, something our families also share. We are excited about the school’s future developments, including bringing new colleagues and children into the growing team. It’s a great time to join Hunsley Primary and help shape our development as a unique primary school.
