About Valentines High School

Valentines High School is a non-denominational, co-educational secondary school with sixth form in Ilford, Essex. Its motto translates from Latin as "in harmony, achieving excellence". There are approximately 1,291 students on the school roll. The school is proud of its diversity, with 78% of pupils speaking English as an additional language. 

Valentines High School has been a Teaching School since 2011. This status allows the school to offer professional development to other schools in the area, as well as providing high-quality training for its own staff. Founded in 1901, the school opened a new sixth-form centre in 2007.

At Valentines High School, traditional values of discipline, respect and good behaviour are combined with leading-edge practice in teaching and learning. Teachers aim to help students develop into happy, educated young people with the desire and drive to succeed.

As a high-performing Teaching School, Valentines High School strives to offer the very best facilities for students. These include state-of-the-art physical education facilities such as an astro-turf pitch and tennis courts, a gym and sports hall. Pupils also benefit from a drama studio, a music room and a set of new science labs.
