Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and ambitious leader who will join our Executive Team, reporting directly to the Executive Principal.   

The Basildon Academies were formed in 2009 and function across two sites, one for our 11-14 year old students and the other for our 14-19 year old students. The Head of Academy will have operational responsibility for the Lower Academy site and will be charged with delivering focused improvements.

You will be an outstanding educational practitioner who consistently demonstrates the highest standards of delivery and planning at a whole school level. The Head of Academy will be committed to raising attainment across Key Stage 3 and will have an understanding of the strategies required to achieve this.

You should be inspirational with an engaging personality, experience of implementing curriculum goals, excellent communication skills, and be able to develop and implement exemplary policies and procedures for staff and students alike.

The Basildon Lower Academy has devoted itself to developing what it sees as the whole child. The school has stated that its curriculum has been developed to enable its students to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills for them to become lifelong learners. To do this, it offers opportunities for linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technical, human, social, physical and artistic learning. 

The Basildon Lower Academy aims for its for students to become fully prepared for their transition to the school’s Upper Academy by providing students with a dynamic, focused curriculum and a very high level of personal support.

The school aims for its students to both gain ‘real-world’ skills and to broaden their horizons.

The curriculum is broad and balanced. The academy cares for pupils well and they generally feel supported and safe.”
