Job overview

Head of Maths, Kensington and Chelsea

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and inspirational Head of Maths who will also be a Key Stage 2 Class Teacher. We are seeking to appoint a teacher who has the skills and motivation to enhance Mathematics provision across the school, working strategically with Heads of Year to develop a dynamic and high challenge curriculum. The new Head of Maths might have experience of teaching in a London preparatory school and of preparing children at 11+ or 13+ in Maths for senior school transition, though this is by no means essential. Applications are welcomed from experienced Maths teachers looking to take the next step in their career, as well as leaders looking for a new challenge.

Pembridge Hall is undergoing a dynamic period of development in which innovative thinking is encouraged and every teacher's contribution is valued.

Pembridge Hall is an Independent girls' preparatory school (ages 4 - 11) of 400 girls set in a beautiful residential square in Notting Hill. Pembridge prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. It is part of the Alpha Plus Group of Schools.

Pembridge Hall is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an Enhanced DBS check.

Remuneration for this post is in accordance with the Alpha Plus pay scale.

To apply for this vacancy please visit the Alpha Plus website on www.alphaplusgroup.co.uk and complete the application pack and equal opportunities monitoring form, accompanied by a hand-written letter explaining why you feel you would be suitable for the position. About Pembridge Hall School

Pembridge Hall is an independent girls’ preparatory school set in a beautiful residential square in Notting Hill, London. It provides education for four to eleven year old students and has 440 pupils in its care. The school is part of the Alpha Plus Group: the Gold Standard in educational provision.

Pembridge Hall School was founded in 1979 by a religious order of nuns. It moved to its current site in 1983. In September 2002, it was sold to the Alpha Plus Group and expanded into a three-form-entry school in 2003.

The school is split over two sites, between which the girls can easily walk. Reception and Years 1-3 are at 18 Pembridge Square, while Years 4-6 are at 10 Pembridge Square. There are specialist teaching rooms for Computing, Drama, Science, French, Music and Art, along with two gyms and an Innovation Space.

Pembridge prepares its pupils for 11+ examinations and consequently they are offered places at the top day and boarding senior schools in the country. The individual is valued and the school is a community which promotes disciplined, enquiring minds and facilitates children’s development into successful learners and thinkers, equipping them with the necessary skills for their future role in society.
