GREATER MANCHESTER SUSTAINABLE ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY TECHNICAL COLLEGE (THE GM) OLDHAM

If you believe you can think differently, beyond the exam and the classroom and have a passion for teaching and learning with young people then look at us. We are The GM.

The GM UTC is now established in its new, state of the art building; it welcomed its first cohorts of students into years 10, 12 and 13 from September 2014.

The GM will offer an alternative educational route at age 14 or 16 for students who wish to follow a technical path into employment or higher education. Our curriculum is employer led and The GM is supported by a range of employer partners including the Equity Solutions Group, the University of Bolton, and EDT. Our education partners are the University of Bolton, Oldham College and City & Guilds. We will specialise in sustainable engineering and construction, responding to the challenges faced by employers in recruiting well qualified young people in the North East Greater Manchester area.

You may not have an engineering background and this is not essential. We are seeking an outstanding maths practitioner to lead the growing faculty in this core subject. Candidates need to have a passion for maths and the capacity to inspire and motivate students and staff. They will also have an understanding how maths can be applied in our engineering context.

We are looking for:

  • An innovative and inspirational leader of Maths
  • Those with vision and a passion for learning
  • Presence and leadership skills
  • An enthusiastic and committed teacher and leader
  • Creative and dynamic practitioner

We can offer you:

  • The opportunity to work with national and international educational and business experts
  • The best professional teaching and learning strategies and the use of innovative technology
  • Learning and development opportunities & support with continuous professional development
  • An inspirational and innovative working environment
  • A professional and rewarding challenge

As part of The GM UTC you can expect to work in an atmosphere of high quality teaching, innovative technology, curriculum development, leadership development and a new energy and approach to learning.

The GM UTC is committed to a work life balance for all its employees and to achieving high performance from all its employees through open dialogue and transparent processes.

If you think you can be an inspiring and outstanding Leader of Maths in a UTC environment, work in support of the goals of The GM, and play a key part in the future of sustainable engineering, then we want to hear from you.
