The Sunderland Pupil Referral Units delivers full-time alternative education to learners across the City of Sunderland. Due to the promotion of the previous post holder to Headteacher we are seeking to appoint a dynamic, visionary practitioner to lead the Key Stage 4 provision to outstanding. You will work with an established and experienced Senior Leadership Team to provide the very best outcomes for 65 learners at Key Stage 4. This is an exciting opportunity as the provision is about to move to a new site with excellent vocational facilities with the opportunity to expand the curriculum offer to provide greater opportunities for success.

Are you an outstanding leader with a proven track record of improving outcomes for learners who are vulnerable, challenging and have either been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion. Have you got experience of working successfully with learners who experience a range of barriers to learning? Are you able to inspire and motivate others to deliver outstanding teaching and learning? 

We are recruiting a Head of School to lead the Key Stage 4 provision. The provision was rated 'Good' in the last OFSTED inspection (February 2013) and we intend to build and improve on this to be 'Outstanding' within a year. We encourage our learners to be highly aspirational and they leave with a range of qualifications including GCSE Maths, English and Science and the majority achieve exceptionally well in the school.
