Job overview

A unique opportunity for a pioneering spirit

Head of School (Two Posts)

The EBN Academy opened in September 2012 and is an Alternative Provision Free School that has been established by the 12 secondary schools in the East Birmingham Network and was the first of its kind in the country. The academy caters for students' aged 13-16 for whom mainstream education is no longer appropriate and a different type of educational experience is necessary to change the outcome for these students.

The EBN Academy had it first Ofsted inspection in May 2014 and was judged as a Good School with many areas highlighted as Outstanding.

Due to the success of EBN Academy (Phase 1 - Yardley Campus), the EBN Trust has been given the green light by the DfE to open EBN Academy (Phase 2 - Sutton Coldfield Area) and is currently in the pre-opening stage for a September 2015 opening.

The EBN Trust is looking to recruit two Heads of School to lead each academy.

The Governors are seeking to appoint Heads of School who are:

  • dynamic and inspirational leaders with the vision and drive to advance and further strengthen our school,
  • excellent practitioners to lead our very talented and reflective teaching team,
  • strategic thinkers with the ability to be creative, rigorous and practical,
  • passionate about realising the potential of all children within a multi-cultural inclusive school,
  • able to maintain and nurture our ethos where all pupils can feel equally valued for their culture and contributions,
  • able to demonstrate a flair for working collaboratively to develop and maintain our very positive relations with pupils, staff, parents/carers, governors, our neighbouring schools and the wider community.

At EBN Academy (Phase 1) we have taken every opportunity to create excellent facilities to meet the needs of our school. EBN Academy (Phase 2) is destined to be a new build with the same high level of facilities as EBN Academy (Phase 1).

We are also in a strong financial position ready to make the most of the future. Interested candidates are very welcome to visit EBN Academy (Phase 1) to meet our committed staff and delightful pupils.

We are looking for the successful candidate to start September 2015 or to be negotiated.

The application pack can be downloaded by clicking the green 'apply' button below or our website www.ebnacademy.co.uk/vacancies

Closing Date: 4.00 p.m. Friday 26th September 2014
Shortlisting: September 29th 2014
Interviews: 9th and 10th October 2014

We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Only applications submitted on the academy's application form will be accepted. EBN Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all Staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.
