Job overview

Ref: 13/1415

Henley College Coventry is a vibrant and friendly medium sized FE college that provides education, training and apprenticeships for approximately 5000 part-time and 1600 full-time students. The College has an excellent reputation for vocational courses in a wide range of areas with study options available at all levels, up to and including higher education.

We are not only one of the top colleges in the Midlands for student success, but have also been identified as a good college (grade 2) by Ofsted 2014. Last year student success rose significantly to take Henley College Coventry up to third in the league table of the 29 West Midlands FE Colleges. We have also just undergone a £6 million redevelopment phase which includes a new engineering workshop, a new Learning Hub, a Job Shop, and conference area. As a part of the redevelopment, the College also has a brand new Undergraduate Centre offering modern classrooms and student lounge exclusively for Higher Education.

This is therefore an exciting time to join Henley College Coventry as Head of School for Engineering, Computing and Media.

In this role you will lead and manage all activity within the school, in line with the College's Strategic Framework. You will hold a full teaching qualification (or be willing to obtain within a specified time frame) and ideally be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject area, although this is not essential. You must hold, or be willing to work towards within a specified timescale, the Assessors Award (A Units or equivalent) and Verifier Award (V Units or equivalent).

You will have experience of course and curriculum innovation and development within areas of responsibility, along with experience of identifying and successfully developing new business opportunities. The ability to monitor, evaluate and drive curriculum delivery and increase success and progression rates is essential.

You must also have up-to-date knowledge of higher education in the FE sector and funding methodology.

Candidates with a disability will be guaranteed an interview, providing they meet all the essential requirements of the post.

Closing date for the above post: Thursday, 9th October 2014
