Job overview

Cheltenham, Gloucester, Forest of Dean

Gloucestershire College is recruiting a Head of School for Hair and Beauty Therapies. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to develop the provision within the Hair and Beauty Therapies curriculum area.

This is a multi-faceted role that encompasses responsibility for the leadership, management and development of a large team and the Hair and Beauty Therapies curriculum provision.  This means you'll be expected to ensure that the provision meets the highest standards of teaching, learning and assessment and that the team is supported and motivated to strive for an outstanding reputation with local partners and students.

We have recently joined the well-known Francesco Group and will shortly be opening our first commercial training salon for Hair & Beauty in the centre of Gloucester which you would be heavily involved with to ensure that it is a success.

We are a modern, successful and innovative FE College which is forward thinking. We have worked hard to build an excellent reputation and our most recent Ofsted rating was 'good' with 'outstanding' features. Our aim is to deliver an outstanding learner experience and we are proud of the excellent facilities and staff that make GC a fantastic place for students to learn.

We have everything a modern hair and beauty therapy learner needs to progress and they will now have the chance to practice in a real salon. Our learners could become a beauty therapist, hairdresser, barber, make-up artist, nail technician, massage therapist, or holistic therapist and supervisory and management roles are also possible.

So is this the role for you?
You will need a unique combination of skills and experience and be passionate about the Hair and Beauty industry. You will need first-class people management experience together with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will work collaboratively with the Director of Faculty to develop and grow the provision and will have a results orientated and hardworking disposition.

Working at Gloucestershire College
We value our team at the College and offer a generous benefits package to reward everyone for their hard work.

Our annual leave entitlement is generous and you will receive 37 days per year. In addition to this, you will get Bank Holidays and the Christmas closure period (between Christmas and New Year) off work!

We also offer discounts and financial assistance on:

  • Discounted gym membership at GC Gym (on site), GL1 and Virgin Active
  • We have nursery facilities at our main campus with staff discount available
  • You can receive NUS discount
  • Childcare vouchers through salary sacrifice is a great way to save on childcare
  • The cycle to work scheme allows you to buy a bike and save on Tax and NI at the same time.

As we are a further education College we know the importance of continuous development and we are proud of our excellent training and development opportunities. We have a selection of courses available to staff and fully support anyone who wants to develop themselves further.
Finally, we also know that everyone needs their caffeine fix and 'we proudly brew Starbucks' coffee!
