The Governors are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher who is innovative and committed to further raising the achievement, learning and enjoyment of our students in Science.

The successful candidate will:

  • be able to lead, manage and inspire our large team of specialist and committed teachers and technicians
  • be able to raise achievement and performance through rigorous monitoring and review
  • have the leadership skills and experience to make a significant impact on raising further the quality of teaching and learning across all ages and abilities up to KS5
  • be motivated and ambitious, aspiring to senior leadership
  • be a teacher with drive, enthusiasm, resilience, warmth and humour

Great Marlow School became an Academy in August 2011. The school offers the chance to work in a well-resourced and attractive department and significant opportunities for professional development. Students are highly motivated and enthusiastic and each Science is successful and growing in the Sixth Form. The ability to teach Biology, Physics or Psychology to A Level would be an advantage.

Great Marlow School is a large co-educational secondary school located in the town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The school has around 1,300 students aged 11-19, with over 200 attending the sixth form.

Founded in 1961, the school converted to academy status in 2011 and in the last six years has invested £9 million in developing the school facilities including a state of the art sports centre, sixth form centre and performing arts accomodation. The Redgrave Sports Centre was named after former pupil and Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, he opened in the centre in May 2013.  The school and the sports centre are a 'hub' of the local community and host events and activities throughout the evenings, weekends and school holidays.

Our core purpose is learning. Great Marlow School is a place of work for learning and achievement. We challenge our students academically but this is not the only attribute that matters here: we challenge our students aesthetically, socially, practically and physically.
