Linslade School occupies a very pleasant site on the outskirts of the town, opposite Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre and Cedars Upper School.

The current school buildings date from 1961, with large extensions added in 1975 and 1985. Surrounded by lawns, gardens and a playing field, the school consists of the main two storey building and a separate single storey block which is the base for Year 8.

Pupils transfer at 9+ from Lower School and the usual intake each year is likely to be around 150 of this age group. The total population is currently 606. The principal feeder schools are Linslade Lower, Southcott and Greenleas but children sometimes transfer from other schools in the area, in particular from nearby villages in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and also from Dunstable. The principal Upper School from Linslade School is Cedars which is situated on the opposite side of Mentmore Road.
2011 was an exciting Year for the School.  In June we took advantage of the new freedoms offered by converting to Academy Status.  The School also changed its name from Linslade Middle to Linslade School.

In October 2011 the School celebrated its 50th Birthday; it was wonderful to see so many pupils return to join us and mark the occasion with the opening of our Anniversary Garden.

The school is organised in 4 year groups with a member of staff designated as pastoral leader. We have form teachers and year heads who are also the first point of contact for parents.  Heads of Department take responsibility for key stage standards; our Deputy Head is responsible for improving teaching and learning and a Head of Assessment focuses on the consistent implementation of Assessment for Learning.  All children are in mixed ability groups which are set for Maths, English and Science. There are at present 82 members of staff, comprising of teachers, classroom assistants, administrative and other support staff. Group sizes are kept down in the core subjects; 20 is an average for many.
We are a well equipped school, including two bespoke science labs, a main hall and a versatile and recently extended dining hall which is also used as a teaching space, a performing arts studio, extensive playgrounds and sports facilities, specialist ICT and DT labs and equipment and a food technology suite.  In addition to our large teaching rooms, we have smaller spaces used for extension and support work. Our highly active parents’ association, the LSPA, provide many of the excellent resources in these rooms.

Extra curricular activities organised by staff are wide ranging. A large number of sporting opportunities take teams far and wide in the district, including football and rugby (girls and boys), athletics, basketball, rounders, tennis, netball, cricket etc. The school also has a strong record of gymnastic success. Opportunities in drama and stage performance are regular and in 2012 two shows will be presented as well as a talent show and musical groups being run. A great number of clubs and activities are provided, ranging from beading, art or stage make-up to extra languages, healthy food or board games.
