Job overview

HEAD OF SECONDARY
Coeducational  3-18  Nord Anglia Education

The British International School Abu Dhabi is a highly successful, growing school with a committed and inspirational team of teaching professionals at its heart. Our close knit and supportive team is honoured to be at the centre of our community, educating over 1200 young people of more than 60 nationalities each year. The British International School Abu Dhabi is proud to belong to Nord Anglia Education. After a successful IB authorisation process our post sixteen offer encompasses both the IB Diploma offer alongside an A Level route to support local students who require Ministry graduation requirements.

Our teachers are experienced, confident, and well-organised, and participate fully in all aspects of school life within and beyond the classroom - and we are looking for an outstanding individual to lead the secondary team.

We are looking for an experienced school leader to make a difference as Head of our Secondary School and help us to take our school from good to outstanding. He or she will have a proven track-record in school leadership and a strong understanding of British education, as well as the creativity, motivation, communication skills and adaptability to make a significant impact in this central role. We seek an excellent communicator, who works in partnership with colleagues, students and parents to create a high performance learning environment that delivers educational excellence.

As a member of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools, joining the team at BISAD means you will be part of a networked global team where ideas, learning and best practice are shared between 27 schools worldwide. Learning and development is not restricted to our students; our innovative Nord Anglia University ensures that our teaching professionals keep up to date with topical education issues and research. Additionally our pioneering Global Classroom and NordStar initiatives ensure we maintain our position as the world's leading premium schools organisation. We will offer you the security and opportunities that are inherent in a high quality global organisation dedicated to education and helping others to be the best they can be.

In return for your passion in delivering a quality education, we offer you a competitive tax free salary, subsidised healthcare, attractive accommodation and school places for your children.

If you would like to be a part of our school community and take a leading role - and have the right blend of experience, creativity, organisation, passion and flair - then please get in touch: we look forward to hearing from you.

BIS Abu Dhabi is a growing school; we currently serve more than 2000 students from 3 to 18 years old that follow the best in British and international curricula, including the English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and BTEC (Business).

Students follow the English National Curriculum from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 11. Students in Years 12 and 13 follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the newly introduced BTEC Business Programme.

We’re proud to be the only Abu Dhabi International School that has achieved an Outstanding rating in the past year for both the ADEK (Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge) Inspection as well as the recent National Identity Mark Inspection. Only 11 out of 197 Abu Dhabi based International schools have been awarded an outstanding rating by ADEK. Furthermore, BIS Abu Dhabi was the only international school awarded Outstanding at the National Identity Inspection where schools were inspected along the strands of culture (Arabic language, History and Heritage), values (Respect, Compassion, Global understanding, and citizenship (Belonging, Volunteering, Conservation).

Personalised learning experiences nurture our students’ growth, while unique opportunities – including collaborations with MIT, UNICEF, and The Juilliard School – cultivate creativity and critical thinking. Our recently opened Arts Centre with 524-seat auditorium will enable the gifts of our students to shine, whether they lie in art, music or performance.
