The educational landscape both locally and nationally is undergoing significant change. The Head of Learning and Skills is an exciting, demanding and key role for Rutland County Council with a strong focus on school performance and improvement, pupil wellbeing, achievement and attainment, school organisation planning, and effective partnership working with all education and skills providers across the birth to adult age range. The purpose of the Learning and Skills Service is to support and enable Rutland children, young people and adult learners to achieve outstanding outcomes and to be safe.

You will specifically have strong experience of working with schools and academies and will be responsible for the successful implementation of the Council's new Learning and Skills Strategy and that continuous educational improvement remains a high a priority. You will ensure that the Local Authority meets all related statutory responsibilities, manage a strong and dedicated team of education staff within the People Directorate, contribute to the People Directorate transformation process and help to deliver its 'One Council' objectives.

You will have a relevant degree or professional qualification and appropriate skills, knowledge and experience to successfully undertake this critical education, learning and skills leadership role within the Council.
