Head Teacher, Salisbury, Wiltshire

Required September 2014

Full-time, Permanent

Longford CofE (VC) Primary School is a village school situated in rural surroundings close to the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury. Currently our 49 children are at the heart of the school as we strive to enable all of our school community to achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

In the last year the school has experienced some challenging times and is now moving forward rapidly and looking towards an exciting future with significant building improvements close to completion.

Staff and Governors are well supported by the Local Authority and Salisbury Diocesan Board of Education as well as the local community.

The Governors are looking to appoint an inspirational Head Teacher (from September 2014) who has the vision and enthusiasm, with leadership and strategic skills, to build on the existing success of the school enabling it to flourish and drive forward within the changing educational environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven ability to operate at a senior leadership level - challenging, motivating, guiding and mentoring the team
  • Has demonstrated 'Outstanding' teaching and can also recognise it, and develop and support others
  • Will work collaboratively to achieve a shared vision, developing strong relationships with all members of the school community (internal and external)
  • Can evaluate the future educational landscape and create the appropriate position for the school within it
  • Will ensure that Christian values are upheld throughout the school
  • Has a sense of humour
  • Most importantly, has the children as the primary focus of all decision making.

To experience this for yourself and to gain a more in-depth understanding of our school we would encourage you to visit the school informally to find out more. Please contact Mrs Debby Underhill the Vice Chair Governor on 01722 329769.

Further information is available on our website www.longford.wilts.sch.uk which includes our school prospectus and the most recent Ofsted Report.
