Job overview

Head Teacher, East Ayrshire

East Ayrshire (pop. 120,000) has strong, vibrant communities where residents enjoy a good quality of life and have access to opportunities, choices and high quality services.  Set in a desirable part of Scotland, East Ayrshire offers a contrast of beautiful countryside and scenic villages. With excellent train links and the M77 motorway extension, travel time between Glasgow and Kilmarnock is around 30 minutes, making many of our schools easily accessible using these routes.

With 9 secondary schools, 42 primary schools some of which have their own early childhood centre, 3 special schools and 14 separate early childhood centres, our staff are committed professionals who strive to meet the highest educational standards and are encouraged to use creativity in their daily practice.

We are an inclusive authority where everyone shares the aim of providing children and young people with the best start in life. The authority has invested in a modern school estate including shared campuses, integration of children with additional support needs and, where possible, children in early years. Our team enjoys a high reputation for innovative practice, curriculum development and excellent learning and teaching. As one of our head teachers you will play a key strategic role as part of the education authority team and as a leader of an excellent staff group.

We are currently seeking applications for a leadership post in the following school:

St Sophia's Primary School

(EAY002356)

St Sophia's Primary School, a denominational school, is part of St Joseph's Learning Community and serves the villages of Galston, Newmilns, Darvel and the outlying areas of Fenwick, Waterside and Moscow.  With a current role of 63 pupils the ethos puts childrens' learning and long-term development above all else.  There is a culture of collaborative working with staff and an active and supportive Parent Council.  The successful candidate for this post will be committed to high standards, curriculum development and working as part of a small team within the school and the Learning Community.   Applicants for this post must have RC approval.
