A small, rural school is seeking a Head Teacher for this September
The school utilizes a progressive/inquiry based approach to instruction coupled with a decidedly Mexican influence. The school strives to help students understand multiple points of view and to appreciate diverse cultural backgrounds. The curriculum requires students to analyse issues from multiple angles, both intercultural and interdisciplinary where arts, sport, organic gardening and ecology are important.
For this role a fluent speaker of English and Spanish as a second Language would be a plus; Bachelor's degree or higher in Education; At least five years teaching experience in a progressive education environment; Strong work ethic; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Experience in an educational leadership position.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Return to natural education such as Waldorf, Reggia Emilio, Khan Academy and Self-design
- Provide a nurturing, caring and supportive environment for both staff and students.
- Support teachers in the use of inquiry methods of instruction
- Assist teachers in the development of the emergent curriculum as well as the standard curriculum that must align with the USA Common Core Standards for Literacy and Mathematics
- Provide classroom management support for teachers
- Promote cross-cultural understanding among the students and staff as we have many different Nationalities
- Maintain a strong, positive and informative relationship with parents
- Assist teachers with classroom community building activities
- Support and train the Teaching Assistants
- Work with the teachers to provide programs for parents
- Provide in class professional development for teachers by modeling instructional techniques
- Insure that cooperation rather than competition is the norm throughout the program
- Plan special events for the school with the staff
- Participate in school wide special events that may occur in the evenings and/or on weekends
- Lead most Primary staff meetings
- Participate actively in accreditation committee meetings
- Interview potential students as part of the admissions process
- Assist in hiring and evaluating staff
- Supervise the preparation of narrative student evaluations three times per year
- Participate actively in the twice-weekly administrators meetings
- Provide support for teachers in the use of differentiated instruction for ESL students as well as for the various ability levels in each class.
