Waverley School has been judged outstanding by OFSTED on three occasions; October 2010, December 2012 and we have recently achieved an outstanding outcome in 2014.   We are a Humanities Specialist College which became an all through school in September 2012.  We achieved IIP Gold in December 2013 and have recently been awarded Teaching School Status.  At Waverley we try to create an environment which allows everyone to develop mutual respect for each other and a respect for learning. This is an exciting time to join Waverley School.

The students at Waverley School have made outstanding progress year on year. We have moved to new landmark buildings that provide everyone with state of the art facilities for learning, teaching and training. As part of the exciting growth plans for the School, we are expanding our team to meet future requirements.  We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, forward thinking inspirational Head Teacher to build on the successes achieved by Waverley School so far.

The ideal candidate will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and have a proven track record in effective leadership and management and be able to lead the school on to even greater success.  Candidates must have an abundance of energy, flair, vision and enthusiasm.  They will need to be hard working, high achieving and self-motivating and capable of playing a major role in further developing teaching and learning within the school.  The Head Teacher role is a very diverse role and applicants must have excellent inter-personal, communication and literacy skills and be tactful/diplomatic or prepared to challenge as required.  Other essential skills include excellent time management, organisation skills, financial management and governance.  Candidates must already have had a vast amount of senior management experience and be a strong leader, ideally within in a successful all through or secondary school, with the ability to lead, direct and motivate teams to continually raise standards in teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post.

Waverley School is a co-educational, all-through school located in Birmingham, West Midlands. It has around 1800 pupils across its primary, secondary and sixth-form departments. The school is part of the Waverley Education Foundation, a multi-academy trust that also operates the local Waverley Studio College.

Waverley School became an all-through school in 2012 and moved to a new site in 2013. It is proud of its diverse student intake.


Values and vision

Waverley School values learning through diversity. Tolerance and acceptance play a huge part in its ethos, with students encouraged to show respect for other faiths and belief systems. The social development of pupils is considered to be of paramount importance to best prepare them for adulthood.
