Job overview

At Chilworth House Upper School we provide a high-quality day provision for young people aged between 11 - 16 years. Our pupils have a range of complex learning needs and challenging behaviour. In our nurturing school we support them to develop independence. The Upper School works in partnership with our primary provision Chilworth House School, giving seamless education across key stages 1 to 4. The two schools share the same rural setting and extensive grounds on the outskirts of Oxford.

The school requires a confident and influential Head Teacher with excellent communication and prioritisation skills; someone who is resilient and patient, with a real passion for working with children with SEN. You will be dedicated to leading our challenging and hugely rewarding community. You will be enthusiastic and sensitive with the ability to keep calm in challenging situations.

As our new Head Teacher you'll be dedicated to working with young people with SEN and have experience as a teacher and senior leader in the sector. A strong leader with a hands-on approach you'll understand how crucial effective teamwork is within a special school. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will be matched by a commercial astuteness, which will help us to continue to develop and grow.

Support from the Witherslack Group

As part of the Witherslack Group, the school benefits from being part of a highly successful and expanding organisation. The Witherslack Group is a leading provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, communication difficulties and complex learning needs. We operate a range of schools, children's homes and integrated therapeutic provisions throughout the country.

The Group provides support and guidance to all our Head Teachers; in addition to both support and challenge from our Deputy Director of Schools, the successful Head will have access to a range of specialists including School Improvement Partners, Assessment and Quality Evaluation experts and the Group Commercial team, as well as formal and informal interaction with other Head Teachers and senior leaders in the Group.

We offer an extensive package for the right candidate:

  • Annual Bonus Scheme (10%)
  • Long Term Incentive Plan (30%)
  • Company Car (£25k) / Car Allowance
  • Teacher's Pension
  • Private Health Care
  • Comprehensive induction training and ongoing CPD
