Job overview

Worth School is a thriving Roman Catholic Benedictine HMC school with 586 boarding and day students aged between 11 and 18 years. The School is set in a 500 acre estate, located within an area of outstanding natural beauty in the weald of West Sussex. Established in 1959 by the Benedictine monks of Worth Abbey, Worth School benefits both from professional lay leadership and the continuing significant involvement of the resident monastic community.

The values derived from the School's Benedictine foundation, as well as the beauty of its spectacular setting, are integral to its culture and ethos. These provide pupils and staff with an excellent quality of life and a distinctive, holistic education. Students at Worth are encouraged to develop their own individuality whilst living within a community that inspires learning, friendship, service and the capacity to worship. The Benedictine culture of Worth School informs the focused academic, pastoral and spiritual education offered to students, who mainly come from Catholic and other Christian families. The School inspires academic excellence and integrity in pupils, so that they may fulfil their unique vocation in the world.

The Governors seek to appoint a successor to Mr Gino Carminati, who will retire in 2015 after eight years in post. Candidates must be able to demonstrate exceptional vision, integrity, ambition, a highly strategic outlook, proven leadership capabilities and a deep empathy for the Worth School ethos and values. Applicants must be in active communion with the Catholic Church.
