About Lavant House
Lavant House is a popular day, weekly and full-boarding school for girls. Founded in 1952, the school, which has a strong Christian tradition is based around an impressive Grade II Listed mansion in a beautiful countryside setting of over 50 acres, just four miles from Chichester, West Sussex. It is close to the South Downs and to Chichester Harbour and The Solent.
The girls enjoy excellent facilities including an art studio in a former stable block, sports pitches, netball and tennis courts, an outdoor heated swimming pool, gymnasium and use of Lavant House riding stables. The Junior Department has its own identity within the school site, though older juniors use some senior facilities.
The school is a happy community with small classes where girls can achieve outstanding academic results. The students also enjoy personal success through a fantastic extra-curricular programme of sports and the creative and performing arts. Girls at Lavant House are encouraged to be confident, successful and creative. The stimulating curriculum, delivered by our inspiring teachers, ensures that each girl is challenged to achieve her full potential. Recently our Raspberry Pi club have recently reached a national final.
The school has an excellent reputation for pastoral care and all teachers contribute to our pastoral and enrichment programme.
Boarding is a significant and important part of school life and of the character of Lavant House. There are full boarders, including overseas and services children, as well as weekly and flexi-boarders. Many day girls board occasionally and all pupils are encouraged to feel at home in the House.
Lavant House is a very positive environment in which to work. We have the privilege of teaching delightful, motivated students and of working with a very supportive team of staff.
