Headteacher

Posted 05/12/2012

The not-for-profit New Model School Company opened the independent primary, Faraday School, in London's Docklands, in September 2009, five years after the foundation of its first school, Maple Walk in North West London in September 2004.

Faraday School now has 53 children in three classes (Reception, Year 1 and a Year 2/5). A new Reception class is added each year up to the formation of a Year 6 class. In September 2013 we expect to have in excess of 70 children across four classes. The riverside Trinity Buoy Wharf location provides a magical learning environment and access to a stimulating, creative community which offers exciting learning opportunities for the pupils and staff.

Faraday School offers: small classes; committed, high-calibre staff; an emphasis on knowledge and a concentration on literacy, numeracy and spoken communication; high expectations of behaviour, manners and respect; and a fully involved parent body. The curriculum is broad and stimulating and based on traditional subject areas. The ethos is firmly grounded in Christian values but we welcome and embrace children from all faith backgrounds, or none. Faraday is proud to be a mixed ability school.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an inspirational and aspirational leader and manager, who can grow with the school and deliver our vision and ethos, to create a truly outstanding and liberating learning experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the school and will undertake a teaching commitment, but will be supported by the wider strategic group.

Candidates should:

  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a love of teaching
  • Be innovative and entrepreneurial
  • Have a proven track record of senior management team experience
  • Have experience and understanding of 11+ and, ideally, the London Schools Network
