Job overview
Headteacher, West Berkshire
The governors of The Winchcombe School are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring leader to build on the vision we have for the school and lead us on to the next phase of our development towards excellence.
In 2011 Ofsted found that we were a Good school that was improving. Since then we have continued our progress and the school is committed to an ethos of believing that every child, regardless of gender, background or ability can achieve their full potential in a safe, caring, happy and secure environment. We believe in partnership with parents, working together to provide an excellent all round education for our children to become confident, flexible learners and competent citizens of the 21st century.
The Winchcombe School is on the northern side of Newbury in Berkshire. Our major building improvement project will complete in August and we will have first class facilities and the space we need to support our learning objectives. The school hosts both a Language and Literacy Centre and a Speech and Language Resource for statemented children who require specialist, integrated support for their speech and language difficulties whilst following a mainstream curriculum. Our sports facilities have also been improved and we offer a full range of activities. The school runs a successful before and after school club.
With the promotion of our current Headteacher, we are now looking for:
- An energetic and committed leader with a passion for children's learning and a strong emotional intelligence.
- A dynamic, strategic leadership style with excellent interpersonal communication skills
- A leader who can ensure that the school continues to provide high quality education, ensuring that pupil achievements continue to improve.
- A leader committed to working in partnership with governors, parents and the wider local community
- A leader with a proven track record of successful strategic leadership in a primary school as a Headteacher or an exceptional deputy with a minimum of three years experience.
In return, we can offer:
- A popular school expecting a full roll in the next two years
- A happy school with exemplary pupil behaviour and with a UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools award
- A school near its completion of a major re-building programme that has created a fantastic environment for learning
- A committed and enthusiastic professional team with a wide spectrum of experience
- A supportive governing body.
