Bullers Wood is a highly successful, all ability 11 - 19 girls' school, with academy status, of 1474 students, with a high achieving mixed sixth form of 392 students. The school has an excellent reputation within the community and is substantially oversubscribed. It is a High Performing Specialist School (HPSS). In 2014, 70% of students achieved 5+ GCSE's including English and Maths and at A2, 57% of students achieved A* - B. It was awarded Outstanding at its last full Ofsted inspection in 2011.

With a strong emphasis on teaching and learning, we are a key partner in the very successful Bromley School Centred Initial Teacher Training partnership and our staff are encouraged to lead on many Borough and other initiatives. We actively promote CPD for all our staff. Pastoral care is also a key element of the school's success.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational, ambitious and motivational leader with an engaging personality, who will continue the outstanding work of the current Head in raising standards of teaching, learning and behaviour for all our students, regardless of ability. With a proven track record of operating at a strategic level in a complex environment, the successful candidate will also show commitment to the ethos of the school and its stakeholders.

The Governors have a wide range of skills with several drawn from successful local businesses. They are ambitious for the school and will support and encourage the new Headteacher in building on the many initiatives currently under development, striving to maintain and excel in outcomes for all pupils.

Bullers Wood School is situated on a 29 acre wooded site of historical significance, complemented by many attractive new specialist facilities. Lying on the outskirts of Bromley, Kent (SE London), it is readily accessible by rail and road.

Bullers Wood is a highly successful comprehensive 11 – 19 girls’ school with boys admitted to the sixth form. We are significantly oversubscribed, with admissions from over 50 primaries, and enjoy an excellent reputation in the community.

The number on roll is 1587, including 458 students in the mixed sixth form. We serve a very supportive community, and parents/carers have a choice of Bullers Wood as a comprehensive school for girls or selective education within Bromley and other LAs (Bexley, Kent).

The staff at Bullers Wood are friendly, hardworking and conscientious. We actively promote continuing professional development for all staff, in line with the needs of the individual and those of the School. We offer a full and comprehensive induction and ongoing support programme for all new staff. ECTs are allocated a dedicated mentor to support them through their ECT year.

The School is a founder member of the highly regarded Bromley Schools Centred Initial Teacher Training Collegiate which enables our staff to share their expertise and good practice with others. We also train teachers through the Graduate Teacher Programme.

Twenty-two acres of woodland and landscaped grounds surround Bullers Wood House, a mansion with interior design by William Morris and exterior by Ernest Newton – both leading Victorian designers. This makes it unique, creating a high-quality environment and atmosphere which students enjoy and remember.
