Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to take us on the next stages of the school's journey in sustaining our Ofsted 'good' grade and moving towards 'outstanding'. The new head will ensure the effective implementation of the new National Curriculum and other key changes in national policy. Our new headteacher will also work to build on effective relationships with our feeder infant school to enable children to benefit from a partnership that supports their well-being and their optimum academic progress.

Christ Church C of E (Voluntary Aided) Junior School is a vibrant and caring school, where Christian values underpin every aspect of our work.

Due to our current headteacher's appointment to larger local school, we are now looking to appoint a successor.

We can offer you:

  • Delightful pupils with enthusiasm and determination
  • A supportive but challenging governing body who are kept informed about the school's strengths and what needs to be done to improve the school further
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking staff team
  • Interested and involved parents and carers
  • Partnership within the established cluster of local primary schools

We would like someone who:

  • will commit to and celebrate the school's Christian ethos, whilst valuing diversity
  • is an outstanding classroom teacher (and as Head will encourage and support all teachers to reach and maintain this high standard including personal example in the classroom on occasion)
  • is proficient in analysing pupil progress data and effective in using this to measure the performance of strategies for accelerated progress
  • has a proven record in many aspects of school leadership and management, preferably as an existing head or deputy head
  • has the determination and passion to develop and challenge every child to reach their full potential
  • is a highly efficient 'hands-on' and organised professional who carefully checks and monitors the effectiveness of all aspects of school life, both within teaching and school administration
  • has good communication, management and interpersonal skills
  • has the ability to further develop a strong partnership with children, staff, governors, parents/carers, the local church and wider community
