About Colyton Grammar School

'The quality of education provided at the school is exceptional' - Ofsted 2020

Colyton Grammar School is a state funded academy with a mixed, selective grammar school intake - 954 on roll including Sixth Form.

Colyton Grammar has one of the finest academic records in the country and features regularly in the top group of schools in the national performance tables.

Parents and students tell us that what they most value is the happy and supportive environment. We strive to ensure that all students have the best possible chance of fulfilling their personal and academic potential.

The school culture is one in which achievement in all activities is valued and celebrated. Our expectations for personal achievement and behaviour are very high and there is a genuine sense of partnership between all members of the school community, which fosters a purposeful but friendly ethos promoting values of respect, consideration and co-operation.

As a school specialising in the relatively able, we are committed to academic excellence in all areas of the curriculum. The quality of teaching is exceptionally high and the Value Added measures for student progress are amongst the best in England.

Recognition of the school’s work is reflected in a succession of exceptional Ofsted Reports. The school has been designated by Ofsted as a ‘Best of the Best School’, being one of the very few schools in England to have been named as ‘outstandingly successful’ in three Annual Reports of the Chief Inspectors of Schools. The school is a Specialist Science College, Leading Edge and Leadership Partner School.

The school is exceptionally attractive and there is a continuous programme of development.

Neither the printed word nor ‘word of mouth’ can replace the first-hand experience of this well-ordered but stimulating community.

Colyton Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
