St Mary's Church of England Primary School is a single form entry school with Nursery, located in the town of Rickmansworth.

In line with our Christian Ethos, at St Mary's all children are encouraged to share and care for one another. They are also encouraged to become independent learners and responsible and capable citizens - all through a curriculum that is challenging and creative.

The Governing Body wishes to appoint as our new Head Teacher someone with a proven track record of strategic thinking - either as Head or Deputy Head Teacher. These skills will stand alongside an ability to motivate and inspire pupils, staff, parents and Governors alike. We are very clear in our desire to move to being an Outstanding School.

The successful candidate will be able to evidence:

  • a commitment to outstanding classroom practice and its maintenance and development by all staff
  • the importance of both encouragement and constructive criticism to inspire and facilitate success for both pupil and staff attainment
  • a clear understanding of the use of current data and its usage in informing potential changes required within the curriculum and staffing structures of a school
  • a recognition of the high standards of both discipline and behaviour that assist in creating a profitable learning environment
  • outstanding communication skills
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • approachability for the various constituencies: pupils, staff, parents, governors, as well as members of the local community and beyond
  • a clear commitment to maintaining and strengthening the significant Christian nature of the school

St. Mary’s is a Primary Church of England Voluntary Aided School for children from Nursery through to Key Stage 2 (Aged 11). We are a partnership between the Church of England and the Hertfordshire Local Education Authority.
