Job overview

Inspirational Headteacher

Cockernhoe School is a popular Church of England school in a lovely rural village on the edge of open countryside within North Hertfordshire. The pupils have asked the Governors to appoint someone who is fair, kind and who really likes children. The Governors are looking for someone who has these skills and, in addition, shows strong leadership qualities, is dynamic and efficient and will be able to build on the strengths of our school. Our goal is to raise standards from 'Good' to 'Outstanding' at Ofsted within a rich and broad curriculum and to uphold the Christian ethos of the school.

Cockernhoe Primary School is a Voluntary Aided village school on the Herts/Beds border with a warm, caring ethos. There are 104 children on roll, about 30% of the pupils come from the village, the remaining 70% from a large housing estate on the edge of Luton. There are four mixed-age classes, one FS, one KS1 and two KS2. Our most recent OFSTED inspection (July 2013) rated us as a good school with some outstanding features.

Hertfordshire is committed to the safeguarding of children and young people
