'Growing Together Achieving together'

The Governors welcome applications for the post of Headteacher at Almondbury Community School ( 3 - 16 ) . This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring and innovative leader with energy and ambition to take this new role forward and shape the learning experience for the children for generations to come in our recently formed through school.

Our vision for the school is to develop a rich culture for learning that enables everyone to grow into responsible, respectful young people who are able to make positive choices about their future.

The learning journey in our school will be a positive pursuit of excellence for everyone, everyday; pupils, staff and parents.

Our key touch stone must be that all pupils must achieve their potential in all Key Stages, whatever their starting point.

The Governors are seeking a Headteacher to:

  • Lead and manage the complex process of merging three 'predecessor' schools into one unified organisation.
  • Work effectively with governors, staff, pupils, parents, carers and community partners to build confidence in, and shared ownership of, our 'new' school.
  • Ensure that pupils in all phases of learning are able to achieve their full potential through consistently high quality teaching and learning.
  • Provide a high quality 3-16 curriculum offer which makes the best possible use of the expertise and experience of an 'all-through' setting.
  • Actively seek to develop links with a range of partnerships to ensure that the school is at the heart of developments in the community and beyond.

The Governing Body at Almondbury Community School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact Yvonne Ainley to arrange a visit.

Headteacher

Mr T Bowen

Values and vision

Almondbury High School wants children to grow personally, socially and academically during their time studying there and aims to support each student and encourage their individual talents and skills. The school’s motto is ‘Growing Together – Achieving Together’ and works with parents and the community in Huddersfield to achieve this. Parents are also encouraged to get in touch through the ‘open door’ policy if at any time they have any questions or concerns.

The all-through school has a broad curriculum and offers pupils in Year 9 and 10 Enrichment options, to allow for them to gain confidence for life after school and develop an interest in a future career path. These include hairdressing training, talks on healthy living and drama productions. Extra-curricular activities are also organised to allow for students to nurture their talents and learn new skills.

Ofsted

“Pupils say that bullying is rare and should it occur they are confident that staff will deal with it quickly. They say they are happy to report to staff any instances where they feel they are bullied. Leaders successfully promote good attendance. They follow up any absences swiftly and rigorously. Attendance is high compared to the national averages. Few pupils are regularly absent and rates of exclusion are very low”.
