Established in 2001, Howe Park School is an Ofsted outstanding, popular and well respected Nursery and Infant School with 180 Infant School pupils on roll and 78 part-time placements in its Nursery. Currently part of the Milton Keynes' Council scheme of "Expanding the Best", Howe Park is becoming a three form entry school in September 2014, accommodating an additional 30 pupils in the Foundation class of the Infant School. Serving mixed communities in Emerson Valley, Bletchley and Furzton, Howe Park's pupils arrive at the school, assessed as at or below national expectations but leave performing above national expectations as a result of the school's relentless focus on high standards. Following the retirement of its current Headteacher, the school is looking for a Head, who has an in depth understanding of how children learn and must be able to:

  • Provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school to build on the school's outstanding provision and take it to its next exciting phase of development.
  • Work with the Governing Body to sustain and further develop the vision and direction of the school.
  • Use the opportunities created by the school's expansion to enhance the school's innovative and creative curriculum.
  • Further develop the engagement with parents, carers and stakeholders to position the school at the heart of its community and to inspire the partnership between parents, the school and their children's education.

Howe Park School is seeking an experienced professional, who is currently a Headteacher or an experienced Deputy, leading an Infant or Lower School or a Headteacher or an experienced Deputy from a Primary School with substantial Early Years' experience. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspirational leader who has the ambition and high standards to build on our achievements and take us to the next level. You will combine a genuine empathy for children with an in depth understanding of how they learn through creative and innovative approaches to the curriculum. Committed to developing, promoting and distributing leadership throughout the school, you are an effective people manager, who possesses the interpersonal skills and high professional standards to engage with and motivate staff, children and parents. You will have the focus and drive needed for whole school management, with a rigorous approach to monitoring.
