We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and collaborative individual with an excellent track record in school development to lead Galashiels Academy in the Scottish Borders. The school has a current role of 856 pupils and has 11 associated primary schools, 6 or which are located in the town of Galashiels and 5 located in surrounding villages.

You will bring a high level of commitment to attainment and aspirations for the pupils. You will conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the education authority under the overall direction of the Director of Children and Young People's Services.

Candidates must hold GTCS registration and demonstrate they meet the Standard for Headship.

Galashiels Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Scotland, serving students between the ages of 11-18. The secondary school is situated in Galashiels, Selkirkshire and has approximately 1,000 pupils.   

Galashiels Academy was established in 1696.

Galashiels Academy guides its students through it's five core values: individuality, competitive, knowledge, confidence and united. The Selkirkshire secondary school focuses on encouraging students to achieve to the best of their ability in a challenging, safe and supportive environment. Students are encouraged to contribute to the school community and develop their skills in leadership with initiatives such as Pupil Voice, where members discuss ways in which they can improve the academy. Galashiels Academy wants to nurture positive, responsible and determined students who are fully prepared for the next stage of their education or career.
