Job overview

A relocation package may be available where appropriate

The Seckford Foundation Free Schools Trust opened its first two Free Schools on 1 September 2012 in Beccles and Saxmundham in Suffolk, and a third Free School in Ixworth opened on 1 September 2014. All our Free Schools are 11 to 16 non-selective, inclusive schools. They 'provide a foundation for life' for the children and young people of their communities, through the provision of a traditional, broad and balanced education for all students, underpinned by high quality pastoral care and enrichment.

We are seeking an inspirational and outstanding Headteacher for Beccles Free School from January 2015 to build on the work of the current postholder, Mr John Lucas, who leaves the Trust as an HMI at the end of term. You will play a pivotal role in taking our highly successful school on the next phase of its journey to 'outstanding'.

Whether seeking your first headship, returning to school leadership after time in a specialist role, or a successful Headteacher seeking a new challenge, you will have the drive, ability and commitment to lead Beccles Free School as well as having the opportunity to make a contribution to all the schools in the Trust.

The role offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, innovative and inspirational individual to work closely with the Principal to build on solid foundations and grow this relatively new school. It may especially suit high performing senior leaders wishing to make their first step into headship. You will have a proven track record at senior leadership level.

The position requires a commitment to high academic standards and the ability to achieve them with a growing team of dedicated professionals, in an environment that attaches particular importance to pastoral care and lifelong learning. Finally, this is an incredibly exciting opportunity to become part of a high performing education leadership team that is shaping an educational vision and impacting on student aspiration and achievement in a significant way.

You will be involved in making a real difference to a school that strives to raise aspirations and improve progress and achievement for all its students. If that excites you then more information is available to download from www.becclesfreeschool.org.uk or www.sffst.org.uk/jobs

Closing date: 26 September 2014.
First interview date: w/c 6 October 2014.

The Seckford Foundation Free Schools Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

About SET Beccles School

Welcome to our School

Here at SET Beccles School we believe in each and every child.

We are an ambitious and yet small and caring school with big opportunities in mind for those who join us.

Our motto is ‘inspiring, enabling and celebrating each and every young person’. Striving for excellence underpins everything we do and we aim to give our students an appetite for excellence in all that they do, equipping them with a set of lifelong skills which will enable them to succeed. We want our students to enjoy their school life, and be inspired to be inquisitive in their lessons whilst providing each of them with an academic challenge that enables them to realise their potential. We offer a curriculum that enables them to flourish academically and lays foundations for successful progression into post-16 education, training or employment.

We strive to teach them that learning yields a multitude of rewards if it is approached with rigour and enthusiasm. This is cultivated by an approach to learning that is student-centred and set in a stimulating environment. As important as academic success is, our aim is to develop the whole person through a range of clubs and activities which enrich the daily experiences of our students. Added to this is our commitment to build a supportive community that encourages a sense of social responsibility and develops within them a desire to become global citizens. Full details on our curriculum and our enrichment activities are available on our website.

At the heart of our success will be a strong and positive partnership between parents/carers, students, teachers and wider friends of the school. Our ‘6Cs to Success’ underpin how we expect every member of our School community to approach learning and behaviour. To facilitate excellent communication we encourage open dialogue between home and School. I hope this provides you with some insight into the life of our School and the founding Trust-wide principles from which we work; yet it cannot truly reflect all that we have to offer. If you like what you read do come and visit us. We look forward to offering you a warm welcome. In the meantime, I thank you for your interest in our School and I look forward to receiving your application.
