Job overview

'a beacon of Catholic education for boys.' (Section 48- Nov. 2013)

Due to the forthcoming retirement of our current Headteacher, Mr Mark Scully, the Governors are looking to recruit an exceptional Headteacher who will share and lead our ambition to take the school from Good to Outstanding. Starting on 1st September 2015, the successful candidate will champion the school's development, delivering change and a successful transition to Academy status.

The John Fisher School is a Roman Catholic comprehensive school within the Archdiocese of Southwark, educating boys aged 11 to 18 years old. Based in Purley in the London Borough of Sutton, the school has achieved increasing academic success at GCSE and 'A' level in recent years, culminating in being recognised nationally as one of the top 100 state comprehensives in 2014.

Our new Headteacher will be a practicing Catholic, a dynamic and inspirational leader with a proven track record of successful and varied leadership experiences in more than one school. You will promote and drive the strategic vision, build on our academic achievements, sporting excellence and success in the arts with a particular emphasis on choral music. You will be an advocate for further change and improvement, supporting our existing strong ethos of pastoral care for the students.

The leadership of our School offers a rare opportunity to use and develop your skills within an exciting, vibrant and creative School. Steeped in rich tradition, it also challenges all students to learn and progress. If you share our values and ambitions and can communicate your passion for education, we look forward to receiving your application.

Please contact Janet Rigby (the office manager) on tel: 0208 763 3702 (Direct) for an informal discussion or email jrigby3@suttonmail.org to arrange an informal visit with our current headteacher, where you can tour the school and meet some of the team. Application packs are available via the school website www.johnfisherschool.org

Interviews will be held week beginning Monday 24th November 2014.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and to equality of opportunity. Appointment to this post will be subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
