Job overview

Carr Manor Community School is a diverse, forward thinking, 'high challenge and high support', school in North East Leeds. We are one of only two 'through schools' in Leeds (ages 4-18), and in February 2014 Ofsted described us as 'a high-performing and harmonious school community.' We have 4 key values - to 'Know our children well', be 'Partners in Learning', to 'Enjoy and Achieve' and to develop 'Character for Learning'. These values underpin the ethos of the school. The school has a strong track record in successfully embedding innovative strategies that enable us to continue driving through improvements across all aspects of school.

The Humanities team has enjoyed significant success at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and we deploy a number of strategies to ensure that we continue to raise pupil achievement and attainment. We are now looking to appoint an outstanding skillful and passionate History Teacher, with the ability to teach across the Humanities Team if required. We are particularly interested in teachers who are committed to, and have a track record in, raising achievement for pupils of all abilities leading to each child to reach or exceed their targets. The post would suit an ambitious and creative teacher who is looking to be part of a vibrant, forward-thinking and successful team.

As a school we invest heavily in training and development opportunities for all colleagues. Additionally, we have embedded a Critical Skills teaching approach and Restorative Practices across the school. We have a unique Coaching Programme and House System in which all staff (teaching and non-teaching) take responsibility for coaching a group of 6 - 10 pupils from across the year groups to promote confidence, independence and teamwork.

If your interest is to work as part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team of colleagues and you are committed to 'making a difference', you can download an application pack from this site, or visit our website www.carrmanor.org.uk or request an application form and further details from Mrs Sarah Knowles, Carr Manor Community School, Carr Manor Road, Leeds LS17 5DJ. Tel: 0113 3368407. Fax: 0113 2888265. Email: knowles01@carrmanor.org.uk.

'We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds'.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All successful applications will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check and satisfactory references.

"The school prepares students well for future success and exceptionally well for life in a diverse society." (Ofsted, February 2014)
